SharePoint-Based eLogbook Solution for a Nursing College in Singapore

About the Client

The client is a renowned nursing college, based in Singapore, that trains undergraduate and graduate nursing students in both academic and clinical settings. The institution prioritizes the monitoring of clinical competence, adherence to academic standards, and faculty supervision, all of which are essential in healthcare education.

Before this engagement, managing student clinical records and academic logs involved a lot of manual work, spreadsheets, and email-based approvals. This led to incomplete data, restricted visibility, and more work for the administration.

Project Objective

The main goal was to use SharePoint Development Services to create and put into use a centralized eLogbook system that would:

  • Make it easier to maintain track of student records and clinical logs.
  • Keep track of academic and clinical progress in a way that can be checked.
  • Make it convenient for students, teachers, and administrators to work together.
  • Cut down on mistakes and manual work while checking records.
  • Make sure that data is safe and that it meets the requirements set by the institution.

Project Details

Bloom was hired to build a custom solution for nursing education workflows using SharePoint Development Services.

We created a SharePoint eLogbook platform that was based on roles. It lets students record clinical activities, instructors review and approve submissions, and administrators keep an eye on overall progress, all in one safe system.

The solution was developed on Microsoft SharePoint Online and included automated workflows to ensure it could scale, was easy to use, and performed well.

Engagement Model

  • Requirements Discovery: Workshops with teachers and school administrators.
  • Designing solutions: User journeys, data models, and approval workflows.
  • SharePoint Development: Making custom lists, forms, views, and permissions.
  • Automating workflows: Approval and notifications.
  • User Acceptance and Training: Making faculty and students familiar with the system.
